Laser Hair Removal Treatments

Over the course of their lives, women spend an average of over 1,700 hours shaving their legs. And that’s not counting time spent removing hair (via shaving, waxing, threading, etc.) in other places, like the underarms, bikini line, etc.. But women aren’t the only ones who desire skin free from stubble and ingrown hairs–many men want it too. Fortunately, Laser Hair Removal (LHR) can permanently reduce the frequency of shaving and, in some circumstances, eliminate shaving entirely. If you have ingrown hairs on your neck, face, arms, groin, or elsewhere, laser hair removal may significantly enhance your skin quality and quality of life.

Feel Your Best Inside and Out

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal has become more effective and pleasant thanks to technological improvements. It takes mere minutes for a LHR treatment on the underarms, face, or bikini region. We can even treat a whole man’s back in 15 minutes since we use the most effective technology.

For enhanced results, you can combine laser hair removal with Dermaplaning (which we also offer).

The specialists at our medical spa in Washington always offer consultations before initiating treatment to help you discover if laser hair removal is right for you. A thorough medical history and assessment will be conducted to ensure you get the greatest outcome with the least possible treatments.

Benefits of laser hair removal include:

  • Permanent Hair Reduction: We provide better outcomes that permanently decrease unwanted hair by combining our laser technology with our highly trained and certified laser specialists. Permanent hair loss of 85 to 99 percent may be accomplished when our visitors finish an average of 6 to 9 sessions spaced around 10 weeks apart.
  • Assists in the prevention of ingrown hairs (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae Treatment): Laser hair removal means less hair. Less hair means less chances of ingrown hairs and associated unsightly and uncomfortable symptoms.

    Inflammation
of ingrown hair, also known as pseudofolliculitis, may cause pustules that look like acne. Pseudofolliculitis affects both men and women and can develop anywhere on the body that is consistently shaven. The condition is most often observed in males of African American descent.
  • Helps counteract hirsutism: Hirsutism is the term for excessive male-like hair growth, especially on the face and chest. While both men and women may develop hirsutism, women are more likely to be impacted because of the regions that are more usually affected.

Hirsutism might be an indication of a more severe underlying medical problem. While our laser hair removal specialists help our customers by removing the annoyance of unwanted hair, they do not diagnose or treat any possible underlying medical conditions. As a result, if a visitor presents with hirsutism, we will not only offer hair removal, but will also refer them to our medical practitioner for more complete care and therapy. Patients with hirsutism often have a background of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and/or thyroid disorders.

  • Keratosis Pilaris Treatment: Keratosis Pilaris, or “chicken skin,” is a mild skin disorder that typically affects the region around the triceps. While laser treatment is not a cure for KP, it has been shown to temporarily minimize the appearance of KP in those who have treated the region for unwanted hair. The production of Keratosis folliculitis, a condition in which hair becomes prone to small follicular papules, is considerably decreased when hair growth is stopped. Because of the destruction of the irritated hair follicles, the region becomes cleaner and smoother. Furthermore, widespread heating of the dermis, such as that delivered by hair removal, may assist in the process of healing of KP-affected skin.
  • Supports active low-maintenance beauty and lifestyle regimens: Laser treatment is an excellent way to lessen daily self-care to-dos and live a more active lifestyle. Cyclists, runners, swimmers, body builders, triathletes and beachgoers will appreciate the simplicity, effectiveness, and attractiveness of maintenance-free smooth skin. Laser hair removal is an excellent method to stay active and prepared for all of life’s experiences

To target the melanin at the bottom of the hair shaft, laser hair removal (LHR) uses either laser or intense pulse light or IPL technology. We may safely treat any color skin with a 1060 wavelength Lumenis laser. Even though LHR may require 3 to 10 sessions for optimal results, considerable progress is usually noticed from the first session. Typically, less and thinner hair grows back with each treatment, leaving you with smooth skin. As your hair thins, we’ll tweak our treatment regimen and laser techniques to ensure you get the best results every time you come in.

Yes! We offer a variety of lasers and IPL technologies that enable us to safely treat people of various skin hues. We select the fiber laser that would be most effective since pigment absorbs light. As your hair regeneration slows, we may switch or mix lasers  to ensure you get the most out of each session. You’ll need less treatments if you have light skin and dark hair versus if you have darker complexion and dark hair.

The laser pulse is sometimes compared to a rubber band softly snapping across the skin. Keep in mind that everyone’s pain threshold is different. However, our latest technologies use contact cooling to reduce any discomfort. Our patients look forward to coming in for a treatment since the discomfort is nothing compared to the agony of tweezing, waxing or threading. If you are uncomfortable during the procedure, our highly experienced aesthetic staff will use a local anesthetic cream to numb the region in a matter of minutes.

After treatment, you will see instant improvements, as well as a reduction in hair growth over the following 3 to 4 weeks. The color and thickness of your hair, the region being treated, and the color of the skin will all influence the outcome. After the first treatment, most patients observe a minimum of a 25 percent decrease in hair growth.

While some regions may only need 3 to 4 treatments for permanent hair removal, others may require 6 to 8. Once your hair removal goals are achieved, upkeep is minimal, with some patients returning once a year to once a year-and-a-half for a few remaining hairs; some patients don’t have to return again for this treatment. We’ve had great success with LHR in the axilla (armpits), with virtually full hair eradication in only three sessions. Again, your times may vary. Single hairs tend to be thinner and lighter in color as the hair grows back.
